Responsibilities
My primary responsibilities include preaching, leadership development and providing directional leadership for our church.

Family
Katie and I got married in 2004. Our son Quinn Haddon was born in 2007 and has his mother’s sweet disposition and his father’s gargantuan head. Our daughter, Lydia Steele, was born October 24, 2010 and is currently mastering the discipline of gaining weight.

Hometown
When people ask me “where I’m from,” I generally say “all over.” I was born in Ardmore, OK., lived in Chicago for eleven years (interrupted by a brief stint in Minneapolis), and, before moving to Kansas City, Katie and I spent two years in Vancouver, BC and a year in Little Rock, AR.

Education & Experience

  • B.A. Wheaton College, Literature and Christian Education
  • M.A. Wheaton College, Biblical Exegesis (Greek & Hebrew Studies)
  • Th.M. Regent College, Philosophical Theology (in process)
  • Favorite movie(s)
I’m a huge documentary fan. Real documentaries–not high budget propaganda films disguised as documentaries.

    Favorite TV show(s)
    Seinfeld, Simpsons, Arrested Development

    Favorite music
I listen to a pretty broad spectrum– from Baroque to Math Rock. As a young kid, I was a Grateful Dead fanatic–and while not so much now, their music exposed me to musical foundations of jazz, blues, and bluegrass. My two years in Vancouver also turned me on to the Canadian indie rock scene, and I still enjoy much of what comes out of Vancouver and Toronto.

    Favorite book(s) outside the Bible

  • The Confessions of Saint Augustine
  • John Piper, Desiring God, Pleasures of God, and Let the Nations Be Glad
  • C.S. Lewis, Letters to Malcolm
  • Richard Lovelace, Dynamics of Spiritual Life
  • John Miller, Outgrowing the Ingrown Church
  • Tim Keller, The Prodigal God
  • David Allen, Getting Things Done
  • Malcolm Gladwell, The Tipping Point
  • Hobbies/interests
When we moved to Canada, Katie bought me my first SLR camera. I had borrowed cameras before, but I had never really even taken a photograph. I’m not much more advanced than the first picture I took, but my passion for photography has continued to grow–and it’s something that Katie and I enjoy together. I also spend an inordinate time reading and listening to music.
