When Redeemer held its first service in June of 2008 we took over the facility of First Calvary Baptist Church. The church built the first part of the facility, the sanctuary, in 1889, making it one of the oldest buildings in our neighborhood. Since 1889, the church had gradually added on more and more space, including two stories of Sunday school classrooms and a first floor that included a chapel, fellowship hall, and office space.
The age of our building, combined with the patchwork way in which it has been assembled, means several things. On one hand, it is unique and beautiful, but on the other hand, it needs a lot of work. Over the last three years we’ve made a necessary repairs and improvements for the structural integrity of the building, but the time has come to begin a more significant overhaul.
Use this page as a hub for the information we have available on our building project.
