Join a Group

What are Small Groups?

At its core, to be a Christian is to follow Jesus. We believe that Jesus changes everything and that as we follow him our lives will be transformed. But we aren’t meant to follow Jesus alone. Following Jesus draws us into community with others who are being transformed.

Small Groups meet weekly in homes throughout the Kansas City area to share meals, study and apply the Scriptures, discuss the sermons and pray for each other. We want your group to be a place where the friendships you develop over time will help you to grow as a follower of Jesus.

What’s my required commitment?

Joining a group costs something—presence and participation. It requires a ten-week commitment to be present for weekly meetings. Obviously, allowances are made for sickness, vacation, work conflicts, and other special events, but not much more. It also requires your participation to come prepared for sermon discussions. Each week you will find in our worship guide the questions that we discuss in our group meetings. We ask that you come to group having answered these questions beforehand.

At the end of each quarter, you will have the choice to recommit to your current group or to try another group. It might take a few tries before you find the group that fits you best. Our hope is that you will find a group that you can develop friendships in for many years to come.

How to Join a Small Group

There are two ways to join a Small Group. The first is through natural relationships: groups regularly add friends, neighbors, and family members throughout the year. But primarily, the way into a Small Group is through our 201 Class.
