May & June 2012 Events

Redeemer 101
If you’re looking to take a step towards getting to know us better, Redeemer 101 is that first step. Come eat lunch with us on Sunday, June 3, at 11 am in the First Floor Meeting Space to hear from our pastors and staff about who we are and how you can get involved. So we can plan for food and childcare, please RSVP at redeemerkansascity.org/RSVP.

How to Speak the Truth in Love
We are hosting a two-part counseling class for those desiring to be equipped to counsel in the local church. This class will cover how people change, and dealing with issues of fear, anxiety, and escapism. We will meet in the First Floor Meeting Space on Wednesday May 30 & June 13, from 6:30 – 8 pm. Childcare will be available. Sign up at redeemerkansascity.org/RSVP.

Neighborhood Community Meal
Summer is an exciting time in our neighborhood. Whether you live in here in Midtown or in another part of the city, we hope you see yourself as a part of this neighborhood on some level. On Wednesday, June 20, at 6 pm we are hosting a meal with local business owners and residents in our Baltimore parking lot. Meat and drinks will be provided, but please bring a side dish or dessert.

Summer Sports Clinics
This summer we will host two Sports Clinics for kids in our neighborhood. The first clinic will be a Football Clinic on June 19 – 21 and 26 – 28. There are a variety of opportunities to help, so join the “Summer Sports Clinics 2012” group on The City to learn more. This is the second year that we have done these clinics, and are excited to see how they will conintue to grow and foster positive relaionships and values in these children and their families.

Interested in Leading a Group?
If you are interested in learning what it looks like to lead a group at Redeemer, we will be providing two opportunities to step into that process. Join us in the First Floor Meeting Space either on Wednesday, June 6, at 6:30 pm or Sunday, June 10, at 11 am to learn what we believe about community and what it means to lead a group. Childcare will be provided, but please RSVP at redeemerkansascity.org/RSVP.

Summer Church Partnership
On Saturday, June 9, we will work together with the Police Athletic League and the Crossroads Academy—a new charter school downtown—to meet a variety of needs ranging from painting and landscaping to small repairs. This is a part of a broader iniative to create gospel-motivated parternships with two other churches in our city: Restore Christian Church and Koinonia Bible Church. More information will be available at the end of May, but please save the date and plan to help out.

Westport Neighborhood Association Clean-Up Day
In an effort to work together to prepare our neighborhood for the All-Star Game, we will be working alongside our neighbors from the Westport Neighborhood Association for a clean-up day on Saturday, June 30, from 9 am – noon. Please meet in our Baltimore parking lot; bring rakes, brooms, and work gloves if you have them.

Serve
One of the best ways to get engaged at our church is to contribute through serving on one of our ministry teams. At the Information Desk you will find information on how to serve at Redeemer and in our city. You can sign-up for a ministry team at there, on The City (join the group titled “Serve on a Ministry Team”), or on with this online form.

The City
The City is an online tool designed to help you get involved at Redeemer and engage other people at our church. Join The City to find a place to serve, learn about upcoming events, and keep up to date with what’s going on in our community. The City is our primary avenue for communication at our church. Signup is available in the Gallery.
